Managing your music studio
Teaching music is a highly rewarding and fulfilling job, but sometimes managing your studio can be a nightmare, especially if you have multiple students, several teachers and don’t have the right tools (Or instruments! See what I did there?).
This Music Teachers Friend (MTF) guide will help banish those nightmares.
What is Music Teachers Friend, you ask? It is the key to managing your music teaching studio! Think of it as your one-stop app for your entire music teaching business: from setting up your music studio, to managing your students, scheduling private or group lessons, sending lesson reminders, monitoring practice logs, organising your lending library, sending invoices, managing your finances, building your own website and creating your own student portal. It is music studio management software that makes teaching music easy!
MTF was created as collaborative effort, by passionate music teachers from around the world. We understand the importance of having an efficient and more automated music studio. Our number one goal is to help you spend more time teaching and less time worrying about running your business.
Gone are the days of scheduling conflicts, ineffective communication, poor punctuality, mismanaged finances and
excuses from students for not practicing (Oops! Some of those excuses will probably haunt you forever, but now it will be easier to track! 😉).
Let’s have a closer look at some of MTF’s features.
Your dashboard is the first thing you will see when you sign in. It gives you a quick overview of your studio.
This is where you can edit and update all of your music studio details such as contact information, address, lesson types, cancellation policies, invoice details, as well as lots of other options.
Here is also where you can edit and update your payment options. Music Teachers Friend integrates with both Stripe and PayPal, allowing you to accept credit card payments online.
Email and SMS notifications are another great feature. You can send emails and lesson reminders in just a few clicks! The templates can be cusomised however you like.
If you sign up for an account that allows multiple teachers, here is where you will be able to manage them. Teachers can log into their own accounts to plan their schedule, manage their students and set their own unique hourly rates.
Adding a student is easy! Simply fill in their information and click “next”. You will then be asked for your student’s primary contact information, which is helpful if they are a minor.
The calendar is the heart of our music lesson scheduling app. It is where you can manage lessons, recitals, concerts, personal or custom events. MTF integrates with Skype, Zoom and FaceTime so that teaching online is a breeze.
Not only will you (and your students!) be more organised, but you will also have fewer missed lessons too!
The repertoire feature lets you and your students keep track of learning progress and performance.
Library & Downloads
Once you have added items (such as books, sheet music, CDs and more) to your lending library, you can then start loaning them out to students. YAY to no more lost items! This is also where you can share files for your students and their parents to download.
The overdue lent items section in your dashboard will show any items that are overdue.
Families & Invoices
You can track payments for your lessons by creating invoices or setting up online payments and auto invoicing.
News & Blog Posts
Keep your students up to date with news, upcoming events or announcements by adding blog posts to the student portal.
This is the section where you can create and customise your own secure, mobile-friendly website. It is optional of course – you can use your own website if you already have one!
There are a few other features and many more settings that we haven’t mentioned, so we highly recommend starting your free trial today to see them for yourself! If you ever get stuck, visit our help center here, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or chat to us live.
